File Import from Gmail

Lace pulls in design assets on a per-contact basis—so you stay in control of what gets indexed.

How to Import a File from Gmail
  1. Search for a Contact

    • In the left sidebar or top search bar, type your client’s email address or name.

    • Select the correct contact from the results.

  2. Import Attachments

    • On the contact’s page, click “Import Attachments” to download design files included as attachments from available emails. If an attachment is buried in an email thread, then click "Thread" to select buried attachments to download.

    • Lace uses your granted Gmail scopes to query every thread between you and that contact that contains file attachments (JPG, PNG, PDF, AI, etc.).

    • It does not move or modify any emails; it simply reads the message parts and indexes the attachments.

  3. Watch the Progress

    • You’ll see a live counter (e.g. “Importing 5 of 23 files…”) while Lace fetches attachments from Gmail.

    • Once complete, all discovered will appear in the "All Files" tab.
